Beechworth Blend is a richly varied blend of handmade red bricks, combining Reclamation Heritage Reds, Weathered Reclamation Heritage Reds and Federation Weathered Reds to create the character and irregularity of brickwork that has evolved naturally over generations.
The blend incorporates both traditional sandstock and waterstruck handmade bricks, bringing together different surface textures, manufacturing marks and weathered finishes. Colours move through earthy terracotta, burnt orange and aged red, with softer brown and ochre tones, occasional charcoal and blue-grey flashing, and areas of pale weathering and patina.
Weathered faces, softened edges, firing marks, tonal variation and deliberately irregular surfaces give Beechworth Blend its distinctly aged appearance. Some bricks are relatively clean and understated, while others carry considerably more texture and weathering. This variation is intentional and is fundamental to the finished character of the blend.
Rather than producing a wall that looks uniform or newly manufactured, Beechworth Blend creates brickwork with depth, movement and history, reminiscent of the naturally varied masonry found throughout historic Australian country towns.
As with all highly varied blends, blending from multiple pallets during laying is essential. The individual bricks can look dramatically different in isolation, but when properly blended across a façade their reds, browns, ochres, weathered greys and darker fired tones come together to create a beautifully balanced and authentic aged brickwork.
Please note: As Beechworth Blend is made up of three different brick types, a single brick cannot properly represent the blend. When ordering samples, you will therefore need to order a minimum of three samples, allowing us to provide an example of each of the bricks that make up the overall blend.
