Waterstruck bricks are comparatively rare in Australia compared to sandstock bricks but can be found, most commonly in Victoria and parts of southern NSW. The name waterstruck comes from the process used to make them in which really wet clay combined with lining the brick moulds with water is used to in their moulding. Unlike sandstock bricks that generate classic elephant skin creasing, waterstruck bricks have a smoother face but often showing suction marks. Below are two examples of our waterstruck Federation red bricks.
